Sikkim IFFCO Organics Limited (SIOL) is a company wholly owned by the Government of Sikkim (since 2024). Originally established in April 2018 as a joint venture between the Government of Sikkim and the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), SIOL was formed with the vision of strengthening the organic value chain in Sikkim and other North Eastern states.
Sikkim, India’s first 100% organic state (declared in 2016), has led the way in sustainable agriculture. SIOL carries forward this mission by supporting farmers and enhancing the value of Sikkim’s premium organic produce. We are committed to promoting organic farming practices, improving processing standards, and enabling wider market access for farmers both in India and abroad.
Our key organic products include Ginger, Turmeric, Large Cardamom, and Buckwheat. SIOL operates fully integrated manufacturing plants at Rangpo, spread across 0.59 hectare, dedicated to organic product processing. With modern facilities, our plant capacities are: Ginger – 2.0 MT per hour, Turmeric – 2.0 MT per hour, Large Cardamom – 0.5 MT per hour, and Buckwheat – 1.0 MT per hour.

The mission of Sikkim IFFCO Organics is to ensure the availability of “Fully Certified Organic” produce to its customers as per their requirements. To do this, the institution aids the farmers in multiple activities such as ensuring Traceability of the produce, packaging, and marketing. It is the equal participation of the Government of Sikkim and its citizens, especially farmers, that has been a big step in restoring the delicate natural ecological balance using adopting Organic farming practices.
A well-known brand in itself, known for its work in rural India for the past 50 years, IFFCO has a reach of over 40 million farmers across the country. IFFCO is a multi-state cooperative society established by the farmers, for the farmers. With its diversified businesses catering to the farmers like Fertiliser, General Insurance, International Trading, Farm Forestry, Information Services, Commodity Exchange, Agrochemicals, Food Processing, and Retail Trade. IFFCO is the primary solution provider for farmers in India.
A supporter of Innovation, Government of Sikkim is the other major shareholder in Sikkim IFFCO ORGANICS. Sikkim has the distinction of being the first “Organic Certified” state in India. The initiatives of the Government have been endorsed by the Future Policy Award granted in 2018 by the FAO of the United Nations, World Future Council and IFOAM. The major commercial crops produced in the state are Large Cardamom, Ginger, Turmeric and Buckwheat.
